The first edition
For the first edition, which ended in Paris in October 2000, were involved 17 countries, hundreds of participants, 83 national winners and 20 international winners. These are the figures of the event, which attracted the attention of the jewellery industry and media worldwide. In each country judges from the different national heats were selected for their ability to understand and interpret women's fashion and jewellers' creativity. These celebrated judges selected
The winners in all countries involved, who automatically entered the International finals, judged by a panel of international magazine editors.
The world as a stage
The TPT design competition is not only a competition, but also a mean to reach the international market through participation at professional fairs. Beirut, Hong Kong, Basle, Vicenza, Palm Beach, Las Vegas, Paris...These are some of the fairs where GIE Perles de Tahiti have exhibited finalist jewellery pieces from a variety of participating countries.
An International exposure
Besides being shown at various exhibitions, the participating jewellers have received the attention of the international trade and consumer press. Press releases and photographs from each national heat were distributed to several media and shown at various different trade events. The 'jewel in the crown' has been the publication of one beautiful hard-backed book entitled "The 100 Best". The book was edited and published by GIE Perles de Tahiti and distributed all around the world.
