Tahitian Pearl Trophy 2005/2006
The final examination meeting for the Tahitian Pearl Trophy Japan 2005/006 as the competition for expressing the multifaceted beauty of Tahitian pearls has been held and the prize recipients have been announced Jan.19 2006.
The Tahitian Pearl Trophy is an event taking place once every two years in the two stages of national and international under the sponsorship of GIE Perles de Tahiti as the organization of Tahitian pearl producers and traders and the autonomous community of French Polynesia, who produce 95% or more of all black lip pearls world-wide.
The Tahitian Pearl Trophy Japan 2005/2006 as the national contest in Japan was sponsored by Japan Blackpearl Promotion (JBP), and only actual creations competed.
61 valid exhibition objects were submitted, and the 10 examiners under Francoise Morechand evaluated the nine categories of 1. Necklaces, 2. Rings, 3. Earrings, 4. Pendants, 5. Brooches, 6. Set jewelry, 7. Bracelets, 8. Accessories, and 9. Men's jewelry.
The examination focused mainly on creativity and technique. It was done with the names of the exhibitors hidden for anonymous voting, and a total of 18 items was selected for seven first prizes, seven second prizes, and four third prizes.
The winning items were exhibited at the International Jewelry Exhibition IJT2006 at the Tokyo Big Site from January 25 to January 28, 2006, and they will be exhibited at the International Jewelry Kobe 2006 in May in Kobe. Afterwards, the 1st Prixze recipients in each category will become competitors in the International Tahitian Pearl Trophy International 2006 in Tahiti.
The selection committee will select the first, second, and third prize for each category, and it is planned to announce the winners at the Grand Final in September in Venice, Italy. It is planned to distribute a collection of the winners after the awarding ceremony.
