Tahitian Pearl Throphy - The song of the stars

Edito

The Tahitian Pearl Trophy, the competition giving the possibilities of developing the jewellery design for exquisite and modern pearl jewellery is held for the forth time this year 2006. Jewellery designers from over 47 countries took part in this year’s competition, presented with “Fire under the Ice” as theme. The participation of countries since the first launch has been ever growing whereby this year it is our pleasure to see the four Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland participating for the first time.

As a treasure of the pristine and exotic lagoons of French Polynesia, the Cultured Pearl of Tahiti evokes through its unique charm an almost mystical admiration from all who beholds it. The wide range of unusual, natural shapes and colours of the Tahiti Cultured Pearl enables the gem to adapt to all jewellery styles; from the classic to the most avant-garde. Though the Tahiti Cultured Pearl made its entrance to Scandinavia more than ten years ago, it is only within the last few years that we have seen this precious gem incorporated in more contemporary jewellery design in these Northern parts of the world. The Tahitian Pearl Trophy is therefore a unique opportunity to excel in the creativity using the exquisite Tahiti Cultured Pearl.

Scandinavian Rewards

By the end of May 2005, a total of fifteen entries were submitted to the competition; all chosen from the ten categories offered ranging from Ring, Necklace, Earring, and Pendant to Brooch, Bracelet, and Parure together with the more challenging categories Pearl Row, Accessory, and Male Jewellery.
The independent jury, which this first year was represented by a Swiss panel of judges from the worlds of jewellery, style, and fashion, selected seven pieces from five different categories which were to be transformed into finished jewellery.
