The Tahitian Pearl Trophy has in a few years become one of the most renowned jewellery design contest in the world inviting jewellers and designers from more that 40 countries to compete in the eleven different categories. Challenged to present the most exquisite, skilful, or innovative new design, both new and well known jewellery artists make their way through to the final awards for the modern pearl jewellery.
With this year’s theme being “The Song of the Stars”, Scandinavia has once again been invited to participate in the contest. This time the selection was carried out by a Danish jury consisting of five people from within the field of jewellery and fashion.
Scandinavian Awards
By the end of May 2007, a total of 24 Designs were submitted to the competition; all chosen from the eleven categories ranging from the popular design categories Ring, Pendant, and Necklace to the more challenging ones of Pearl Row, Accessory, and Male Jewellery.
Of the 24 designs, first handed in as drawings, 11 pieces were chosen to be made into finished jewellery. The chosen designs were to be handed in as ready made jewellery for the jury to be able to make the final,
severe selection of the Prize Winners.
Of these ready made pieces, seven were given a prize of which three pieces made it with the excellent WINNER prize and will therefore continue in the international, final part of the competition.
The jury selection were made on a severe basis in order only to allow the very best, judged on either design, aesthetics, material, technique, and craftsmanship.
A ceremony will be held in the beginning of January 2008 with the participation of the winners, the participants, the jury and the press.
We wish all the Scandinavian first prize winners good luck in the International finals.
