Tahitian Pearl Throphy - The song of the stars

Edito

Once upon a time the works of the well known painter Gauguin put Tahiti in the spotlight of our attention. But we owe it to the Tahitian Pearls, this miracle of nature, that this island became famous worldwide. As members of the worldwide network of Perles de Tahiti G.I.E. we take great care to keep the beauty, the value and the legend of these precious “jewels of the sea”, - the Tahitian pearls – alive: just as the pearls themselves provide a living.

Part of this mission is the Tahitian Pearl Trophy, an international design contest which Perles de Tahiti now runs for the 5th time.

We are very happy with the more than 70 submissions we have received for this years Tahitian Pearl Trophy contest in Germany and are overwhelmed by the dedication, talent and knowledge of all participants which they have devoted to their special work.

Pearls are unique – no two pearls are alike – just like all design creations. They have shown their own “one of a kind” interpretation of the harmony between the Tahitian Pearls and the designs;

The idea for “space oddity” by Yasmin Mirza-Zadeh - as an example - translated the theme “Song of the Stars” into the delicateness of antique lace with ornaments and structures into metal. Fragile and yet strong in the contrast to the high quality black shining Tahiti Pearls, which are surrounding the whole brooch.

Or “Univérso” by Alfonso Anzivino, which shows a harmonic connection between music and stars through distinct elements, such as staff lines, notes, the sun and the nine planets. The core of the 750 Palladium white gold is dedicated to the well known German song “Vom Himmel hoch da komme ich her”.
The position of eight Tahitian Pearls is exactly based on the melody of the song…

These are only 2 out of 19 unique designs, made of high quality materials and compositions of Tahiti Pearls and their magnificent light and colour play.

In this regards we like to thank our Grand Jury of this year, who have helped tremendously with their expertise, personal time and dedication in selecting 19 winners out of 70 participants:
