Stars from Switzerland
The theme of the fifth edition of the Tahitian Pearl Trophy, “The song of the stars”, once again inspired a number of Switzerland’s leading jewellery designers
to produce some outstanding creations, all “starring” the mysteriously dark, shimmering Tahitian cultured pearl.
Creating a jewellery masterpiece using pearls places particularly great demands
on a jewellery designer and is regarded as one of the most difficult tasks for a goldsmith.
Nevertheless, in Switzerland a surprisingly high number of jewellery designers and artists rose to the challenge and submitted a total of some 30 entries displaying an amazing variety of ideas.
With their competition entries, the participants paid homage to the absolute stars among the cultivated pearls, the unique, exotic treasures from the island of Tahiti, and on doing so once again demonstrated the extremely high level of Swiss gold artistry.
The Swiss finalists will be presented with the highly coveted national award on
16 January 2008 in the presence of the media. The winners thus qualify for the international final, which will be held in the course of 2008.
All Swiss prize-winning creations, together with a selection of other award-winning pieces of jewellery from other countries, will be on show at the Perles de Tahiti booth at the watch and jewellery show.
Baselworld 2008, in Basel (3 - 10 April 2008, Hall 3.0, Booth C11).
