Tahitian Pearl Throphy - The song of the stars

Edito

Eight years after its first edition, the TPT - international design competition dedicated to the enhancement of Tahiti's Pearl - doesn't appear at all as the tired repetition of things already seen; on the contrary it has the ability to renew itself at any new appointment demonstrating once again its inexhaustible vitality.
The most striking feature is the great search of the innovative forms, which gave life to jewellery extremely versatile and adaptable to different functions, such as the glasses ending in a cascade of pearls and form a pair of earrings, the necklace that may become necklace or bracelet or pendant depending on the situations, the necklace that becomes a smooth net and falls on the shoulders like a shawl…
Precious is also the combination of materials, such as the unprecedented combination of the platinum with the red coral in the wonderful ring, 2nd prize in the platinum category.
In any case, in all the pieces it's possible to admire the pleasure of fine detail, the wise use of materials, the extraordinary elegance of design, the sense of rhythm and musicality in the forms, to give voice to the theme of the year "The Song of the Stars."
Of high quality the pearls used: big, almost always perfectly round and with an extraordinary light. There were darker shades, from the sparkling grey, to the metal grey ( "aile de mouche") to intense black and brown, to better interpret the theme of the night sky.
A final novelty is the composition of the jury, formed this time only by males (designers, journalists, writers, businessmen, etc.), chosen with the precise intention of bringing a new look, all male, over the Pearl of Tahiti's universe.
There were three winners selected for each of the 11 categories and the awarded designs will be exhibited in the events organized by G.I.E. Perles of Tahiti.
Vicenza, Basilea, Kobe will be just some of the prestigious stages of this travelling exhibition, which will receive the attention both of the press and the public from all over the world.
